Georges Sfeir is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Transport Studies (ITS), working on the SYNERGY project. His research focuses on developing new behavioural models that integrate insights from econometrics, machine learning, and mathematical psychology to advance the understanding of human decision-making. Before joining ITS, Georges was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in the Machine Learning for Smart Mobility (MLSM) group. His work there spanned several areas, including advanced discrete choice modelling with generative machine learning, public transport route choice modelling using smart card data, and integration of household travel surveys with smart card data to quantify reporting errors in self-reported trips. He also contributed to research on rail traffic management and simulation. Georges holds a Ph.D. from the American University of Beirut (AUB), where he focused on integrating machine learning with discrete choice models to better predict and understand decision-makers’ choices.
