Title: The Interplay of Telework, Travel, and (Re)location
Abstract:
This talk aims to present and discuss the main results obtained from the research project “REMOBIL - Rethinking Mobility, location patterns and urban form after the COVID19 pandemic. The effects of telework and e-shopping”. The project aimed at studying the effects of telework frequency on travel behavior and its impacts as well as the interplay between telework and e-shopping. It looked also at the impact of telework on residential and firm relocation and residential and office location preferences. The talk presents the results obtained and its implications for policymaking and future research in these topics.
Profile:
João de Abreu e Silva is an Associate Professor with habilitation of Urban and Regional Planning in the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environment at the Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa. João has been involved in several research projects in areas related with Sustainable Urban Mobility, Transport Land Use Interactions, Transport Demand Modeling, Data Collection and Intelligent Transport Systems, Social Networks, Equity, and Telework. He has published extensively in these topics and supervised 25 master students and 14 PhD students (plus 4 ongoing). João has also been involved in several international scientific networks, being currently member of the International Steering Committee for the Transport Survey Conference, Editor of the Journal of Transport and Land Use (www.jtlu.org/) and was Chair of the World Society for Transport and Land Use (http://www.wstlur.org/) between 2021 and 2024.
